How to Upload Your Own Book
Bring a book you wrote yourself into My Spicy Vanilla chapter by chapter, attach your characters, teach the AI your voice, and then write a spicier version of any scene or chapter while the original stays untouched.
You do not have to start from a blank page. If you already wrote a book, a novella or a few chapters, you can bring them into My Spicy Vanilla and work on them with every tool the platform has: illustrations, audio narration, AI Edit, and new chapters written by the AI in your own voice.
This guide shows how to upload your book chapter by chapter, how to attach your characters and your writing style, and how to write a spicier version of a scene or a whole chapter while your original text stays exactly as you wrote it.
Before you start
- Work chapter by chapter. Each pasted chapter can hold up to 60,000 characters, which is roughly 10,000 words. If a chapter is longer, split it in two and paste the second half as the next chapter.
- Have the text ready to copy. Word, Google Docs, Scrivener and plain text files all work. Bold, italic and quoted passages are kept when you paste. Headings, lists and images are not, so add the chapter name in the name field instead of pasting it as a heading.
- Log in first. Pasting your own chapters is available on every account, free or Premium, and it does not count towards your daily story limit.
Step 1: paste the first chapter
- Open the story writer. At the top of the form, under How this chapter gets written, switch from Write with AI to Paste your own.
- Type a Chapter name. If your pasted text starts with a title, the editor offers it as the chapter name; click Use it to accept.
- Paste the chapter into the editor where it says Paste your chapter here…. You can also drop a .txt or .md file onto the editor, or click Import .txt and pick the file. Other file types, such as .docx or .pdf, are not supported yet; copy the text from the document and paste it instead.
- Check the word count under the editor, fix anything that pasted wrong with Bold, Italic, Blockquote, Undo and Redo, and click Save as the first chapter.
The chapter is saved right away. The AI does not rewrite it; it only reads it to write the chapter summary, the description and the cover image. Pasted chapters go through the same content moderation as generated ones.
Step 2: add the rest of the book
- Open the story from My Stories and click Continue on the last chapter.
- Switch to Paste your own again, give the chapter a name, paste the text and click Save as chapter 2. The button always shows the number the new chapter will get.
- Repeat for every chapter of your book.
A pasted chapter is inserted right after the chapter you are continuing, so you can also add a missing chapter in the middle of a story later; the chapters after it move one number up. Your own chapters and chapters written by the AI can live side by side in the same story.
To keep a whole book together with its cast, create a Writing Pack of the type Book and start the story from inside that pack. Every chapter, character and location of the book then stays in one place. See How to Use Writing Packs.
Step 3: attach your characters and locations
After each pasted chapter is saved, the AI reads it and saves the named people and places that are not in your library yet as characters and locations, with a profile built from what the chapter says. They appear under the AI Generated tab of the Characters and Locations pages a minute or two later. How Character and Location Extraction Works explains what is picked up and what is skipped.
For your main cast, it is still better to create the characters yourself before you paste the first chapter. A profile you write holds everything from the whole book, such as looks, history and the way they speak, while an extracted one only knows what a single chapter says. Review extracted entries afterwards and add nicknames so later chapters do not create duplicates.
Every time you paste a chapter, use the Who’s in this chapter? section of the story writer: click Choose cast & setting and tick the characters, locations, items and social groups that appear in that chapter. Free accounts can attach up to two characters per chapter; Premium accounts can attach more.
This is what keeps names, pronouns and looks consistent later: illustrations are drawn from the character profiles, the chapter summary names the right people, and the next chapter's cast picker already has them selected. Read How to Use Illustrations and How to Use Audio Narration to see what you can do with a chapter once it is in.
Step 4: teach the AI your voice
When the AI later writes or rewrites a scene, you want it to sound like you, not like a generic narrator. A Writing Style does that.
- Open Create new style and choose From a passage.
- In the Paste a passage field, paste two or three paragraphs from your book that sound most like you: a scene with dialogue and description works best. The AI studies your sentence rhythm, vocabulary and imagery and writes the style instructions for you.
- Read the result, adjust anything that feels off, and install the style Globally or only in your book's Writing Pack.
- Whenever you write a chapter with Write with AI, pick your style in the Writing Style field of the story form.
Free accounts get one AI style build per day, so paste your best passage first. The full guide is How to Configure Your Writing Style.
Step 5: set your heat level
Before you ask the AI to spice anything up, set how far it is allowed to go. In Content Preferences, choose the Content Comfort Level you want for the new scenes: Balanced for sensual but not graphic, Explicit for detailed sex scenes, or X-Rated (Premium) for the most intense writing. AI Edit and new chapters both follow this setting, and you can also change it per chapter in the story form. See Choosing Your Content Comfort Level for examples of each level.
Step 6: spice up your chapters
There are two ways to do it, depending on how much you want to change. In both cases your original text stays as you wrote it until you decide to replace it.
Add heat to one scene with AI Edit
Use this when the chapter is right and only one moment should go further: a kiss that fades to black, a flirt that could be bolder, a night that is summed up in one sentence.
- Open the chapter and click Edit at the top of the page.
- Highlight the passage you want to change. One to three paragraphs give the best results; the limit is 8,000 characters per selection.
- In the toolbar that appears, open More and pick More Erotic for a quick change of tone, or click Ask AI and type your own instruction.
- Read the suggestion, click Insert to replace the passage or Try again for another version, then click Update to save the chapter.
Examples of instructions:
- Make this scene more sensual and add more tension between them before they touch.
- Expand the kiss into a full love scene in the same voice as the rest of the chapter.
- Keep the dialogue, but describe what Nadia feels and notices about him in much more detail.
Only the selected passage is rewritten; everything around it stays untouched. AI edits have daily and monthly limits, listed in How to Use AI Edit.
Write a spicier version of a whole chapter
Use this when you want the same events told with much more heat. The AI writes a new version of the chapter, and your pasted text is kept as an earlier version you can switch back to at any time.
- Open the chapter, scroll to the bottom and click Regenerate. In the dialog, choose Regenerate the whole chapter.
- In the prompt field, write down the events of the chapter in order, scene by scene: where it happens, who is there, what they do and say, and how it ends. Then say which moments should go further. The prompt can hold up to 10,000 characters, so a short list of the key beats fits easily. You can also type @chapter and pick this same chapter, so the AI reads your original text in full as extra context, but the events you write in the prompt are what it follows.
- Turn up the heat for this chapter. Switch from Slow-Build Romance to Passion, then under Choose story explicitness level click Change and pick Balanced, Explicit or X-Rated (Premium). This is the whole point of a spicier version: the level you pick here applies to this chapter and overrides the default from your Content Preferences.
- Pick your Writing Style, check that the right characters are selected, and click Regenerate. Regenerating counts as one story generation towards your daily limit.
- When it is ready, read the new version. A Version selector under the chapter lets you open your original and every regenerated version. If you prefer an earlier one, open it and click Make Version Primary; that version is then the one readers see and the next chapter continues from.
Example prompt:
Nadia works the late shift at the diner and Elias comes in just before closing, soaked from the rain. They talk while she cleans up; he admits he has been coming in every night to see her. She locks the door and they kiss by the counter. Keep all of these events in this order, but turn the kiss into a full, steamy scene that lasts the rest of the chapter. End with Nadia turning off the lights and the two of them leaving together.
Say which moments should go further and which should stay as they are. "Keep the argument exactly as written, then make what follows explicit" gives the AI a clear job; "make it spicier" leaves it to guess. If the chapter after this one should stay consistent with the new version, you can reference it with @chapter; see How to Reference Chapters in Your Prompt. Writing Story Prompts explains how to phrase instructions.
Good to know
- Your text is private. Uploaded chapters are visible only to you unless you share the story yourself, and they are never used to train AI models.
- Plugins are not applied to pasted chapters. Nothing is written when you paste, so there is nothing for a Plugin to shape. They apply as usual when the AI writes the next chapter.
- Fix typos in Edit mode. The same Edit button lets you correct a pasted chapter by hand, and Fix Grammar in the selection toolbar cleans up a passage without changing its meaning.
- Moderation applies. A pasted chapter that breaks the Acceptable Use Policy is flagged like a generated one and cannot be illustrated, narrated or continued.
Final tip
Upload one chapter, attach its characters, and try a single AI Edit on the scene you most want to see go further. Once you like how the AI handles your voice, upload the rest of the book and decide whether you want to regenerate whole chapters or only heat up a few scenes.
