The Manager's Whip
Roleplay as a manager using Henri Fayol's management principles to improve employee performance in a 3-5 minute scenario. Lecturing and using body language to assert authority.
- It's a typical Wednesday afternoon in August, and you're the manager of a busy office. Your partner, the new employee, is struggling to meet the deadlines. You've called them into your office for a meeting to discuss their performance.
- As the manager, you're determined to whip them into shape. You sit behind your desk, wearing a sharp business suit, while your partner stands before you, nervous and fidgety.
- You begin to lecture them about the importance of meeting deadlines, your voice firm but controlled. Your partner looks up at you with a mix of fear and admiration in their eyes.
- As you continue to speak, you notice your partner's eyes wandering to your hands, which are clasped together in front of you. You realize that they're fixated on the silver watch on your wrist, a symbol of your power and authority.
- You decide to use this to your advantage. You slowly unclasp your hands, revealing the watch in all its glory. Your partner's eyes are transfixed on the timepiece as you begin to circle around the desk, your presence looming larger with each step.
Preparation steps:
- Set the scene by transforming your living room or bedroom into a office space. Clear a desk and chair, and dress in a sharp business suit to get into character.
- Add some props to enhance the atmosphere, such as a clock on the wall, a planner or calendar, and some papers or files on the desk.
- To really get into the zone, listen to some office background noise or put on some instrumental music to simulate the sounds of a busy office.

Some tips:
- Remember to stay in character throughout the scenario, using a firm but controlled tone to really get into the manager role.
- Use the watch as a prop to your advantage, using it to distract your partner and draw their attention to your power and authority.
- Don't be afraid to improvise and add your own twists to the scenario - the more you stay in character, the more immersive the experience will be for both of you.
Dialogue ideas:
- You're so captivated by the watch, I think you need to be reminded of the time. And right now, you're running out of it. Get your priorities straight, or you'll be out of here.
- I see you're intimidated by my power, and that's exactly what you need - a firm hand to guide you. Now, let's discuss how you're going to meet those deadlines.
- Don't think you can distract me with your pretty eyes, I'm here to whip you into shape. And if you can't handle the pressure, then maybe this job isn't for you.
- You should be focusing on your work, not my accessories. But since you're so drawn to it, why don't you come closer and take a better look?
- Oh, you're fascinated by my watch, aren't you? Well, let me tell you, it's not just a time-keeper, it's a symbol of my dominance in this office.
