Debtor's Dilemma
Welcome to 1950s New York City, where a ruthless bill collector, Victor, confronts a struggling widow, Nancy, over a looming debt. Will she succumb to his demands or outsmart him to keep her dignity?
- Welcome to 1950s New York City, where the streets are paved with debt and despair. You, the female, play the role of Nancy, a struggling widow trying to make ends meet. Your husband's passing has left you with a mountain of debt, and the bill collectors are closing in. You've received a visit from the notorious Victor, a ruthless debt collector with a reputation for getting what he wants, no matter the cost. He's come to collect on the loan, and he's not leaving until it's paid in full. Or is he?
- You answer the door, nervous and fidgety, as Victor stands on your porch, his eyes piercing through you like a cold winter morning. He's imposing, his broad shoulders and chiseled features making you feel like a mouse caught in a trap. He hands you an envelope, the contents of which make your heart sink. The debt is due today, and if you don't pay up, the consequences will be dire.
- You try to reason with him, explaining that you're doing the best you can, but Victor is unmoved. He's heard it all before, and he knows every trick in the book. He's there to collect, and he won't leave until the debt is settled. You feel a flutter in your chest as he steps closer, his voice low and menacing.
- The tension is palpable as Victor's eyes roam over your body, his gaze lingering on your curves. You feel a shiver run down your spine as he whispers in your ear, 'You know, Nancy, there are other ways to pay off a debt. Ways that don't involve money...' His breath is hot against your skin, and you feel your pulse racing with excitement and fear.
- What will you do, Nancy? Will you succumb to Victor's demands, or will you find a way to outsmart him and keep your dignity intact?
Preparation steps:
- Set the scene by dressing in 1950s attire, think poodle skirts and fitted blouses for the female, and sharp suits and fedoras for the male. Create a nostalgic atmosphere by playing old jazz music in the background and using vintage props like antique lamps and old photographs.
- Use dim lighting to create a sense of foreboding, and make sure the room is tidy but not too neat – after all, Nancy is struggling to make ends meet. Consider setting up a small table with a typewriter, papers, and a calculator to add to the theme.
- To get into character, think about what motivates each of you. What are Nancy's fears and desires? What drives Victor's actions, and what does he hope to gain from this encounter?

Some tips:
- To add an extra layer of realism, consider having the male partner wear a fake mustache and hat to really get into character. This can help you both feel more immersed in the roleplay and add to the overall atmosphere.
- Remember to stay in character and respond accordingly. If you're Nancy, try to convey a sense of desperation and fear, while Victor should be confident and assertive. This will help create a sense of tension and excitement.
- Don't be afraid to get creative and add your own twists to the scenario. Perhaps Nancy has a secret that could change the course of the encounter, or Victor has a weakness that can be exploited.
Dialogue ideas:
- What exactly did you have in mind, Mr. Victor? I'm not sure I'm ready to... compromise just yet
- You're a very persuasive man, Victor. Maybe we can discuss the terms of our little... agreement over a drink?
- You're a man who knows what he wants, aren't you, Victor? And I think you want more than just my debt settled...
- Oh, Mr. Victor, I'm afraid I don't have the money, but maybe we can come to some... arrangement?
- I'm not sure I'm comfortable with your proposition, Mr. Victor, but I have to admit, you're making me... very nervous
