Introduction

But the rules don't account for on-call rooms with locks, rooftop smoke breaks where someone says too much, or the way saving a life together makes you feel invincible. And reckless.
Narrative Arc
A new arrival at St. Maren's disrupts the careful balance — a resident assigned to Cross's service, a consultant brought in for a high-profile case, or someone who shouldn't be here at all. Cross's iron rule about colleagues starts cracking during late-night surgeries. Leo's charm works until his past surfaces and the one person he trusts with it gets too close. Whitfield's jealousy spills into the OR when someone outperforms him. Ryan watches it all unfold from the nurses' station — until he's pulled in too. A hospital crisis — a botched surgery, a board investigation, a patient who's more connected than anyone realized — forces secrets into the open. At St. Maren's, saving someone's life creates a bond.
